Welcome to Dedham Youth Baseball
Fall Baseball Registration is now closed. You should hear from your coach shortly for team placement.
Typically games are played on Sunday afternoon and once or twice during the week (Thursday with an occasional Monday). We try to limit travel during the week but we also have a few lighted fields for late games as sunlight becomes very short in October. Typically an 8 or 10 game schedule, with 2 games per week. Home teams would be responsible for game balls and umpires, to be followed by a Single Elimination playoff. Season begins after Labor Day and runs for 5 weeks, finishing up by mid-October.
Dedham 10U team defeated Franklin 8-7 to claim the Distinct 4 Championship on Saturday (6/25/22). They will advance next week to take part in the State Tournament held in Fall River on July 2nd.

Special thanks to Chris Anderson for taking the initiative to recognize Police Chief Mike d’Entremont for volunteering his time with Dedham Youth Baseball. We very much appreciate all you do for the kids playing baseball but more importantly everything you and the police force do for the town of Dedham.
Interested in Summer Baseball?
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MONDAY May 31st
Dedham Youth Baseball is fortunate to have a fantastic pool of players who are eager to improve their skills and challenge themselves against top competition. Summer baseball provides a tremendous opportunity to play competitive baseball while representing the town of Dedham. We want to make sure parents and kids are aware of the commitment required before choosing to take part in the program.
Dedham Youth Baseball evaluates players across the 9U - 12U age groups to construct our District Tournament Teams as well as to build Suburban Youth Baseball League teams that play competitive games against local programs. 8U Participate in Friendship League.
Any child interested should first register for summer baseball and then take part in the evaluations that will be held. More information on evaluations is below:
District Tournament Teams:
It is important to note that participation on the district teams will be based on tryouts. The plan is to select one Cal Ripken tournament team per age group; U9, U10, U11, and U12. To be eligible for the Cal Ripken team, a player must participate in Spring Baseball through DYB. The commitment level for a player selected to a team is very high. Dates for District Tournaments are approximately June 15-25, 2022 for U9-U12. Based on how the team performs it's possible the team could advance to a state tournament in early July.
Suburban Youth Travel Teams:
The summer travel teams begin in late June and the season goes through early/mid August. Players are expected to attend practices, regular season games, and playoffs. If you have extensive plans to travel for the summer, especially in July, it might not be ideal. Games are typically played during the week, although there may be some exceptions.
Distinct Teams will be capped based on Cal Ripken guidelines and coach/league discretion. Suburban Youth Travel Teams will be constructed based on registrations. Depending on the number of kids that sign up across age groups it's possible we may have more than one team for an age group. Again this will be driven based on registration and coaches availability.
Babe Ruth Summer Baseball
Dedham Babe Ruth has entered into the Metro South Baseball league where we will compete against surrounding Babe Ruth programs.
This league is a 12 game season, with playoffs. You can expect to travel to surrounding towns and also have a few homes games right here in Dedham.
As we close out or spring season, we will have additional summer tryouts to begin to for our A division teams and B division teams.
If you have any questions please send inquiries to email@example.com
Recently Dedham Youth Baseball has entertained the idea of moving from a Cal Ripken Charter to a Little League Charter. Moving from one Charter to another has its differences and the most noted change would be the player's age cutoff date, now aligning with the player's school grade age.
Cal Ripken has an age cut-off date of April 30th.
Little League has an age cut-off date of August 31st.
As you can imagine this age change requirement will be an adjustment to the player, if he or she falls in-between the age cut dates (birthdays between May 1st and August 31st).
As a result, for a smoother transition, Dedham Baseball will stay in Cal Ripken for the 2022 Spring Season.
However, for our 2022 Summer Season (which begins late June and ends late July) we will transition to the age dates for Little League as we intend to move into LL on full time basis spring of 2023. Enforcing the LL age in our summer season will provide two areas of interest for the players. This change will allow the adjustment needed to play at the next level
1. Players can enjoy their last year(s), mainly our 12yr olds playing in Cal Ripken small diamond for Spring and Cal Ripken tournaments.
2. Our suburban summer season will provide the player the change of competitive play of playing with others at the new LL age. This will prove to be helpful in spring 2023.
